WE ARE CONSTRUCTING A NEW CATHEDRAL BUILDING
St. Sebastian Catholic Cathedral is the Principal and Mother Church of all Churches in the Catholic Diocese of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria. It is where the Bishop presides, teaches and conduct worship for the Christian Community. The Cathedral is where the Bishop has his throne as a symbol of his authority. The Church became seat of the Bishop (Cathedral) in May 29 1969 when the Catholic Diocese of Ijebu-Ode was calved out of Lagos Diocese.
Consequently, this official website will bring activities of the ongoing construction of New Saint Sebastian Catholic Cathedral to Social sphere for wider public outreach and for dissemination of information as they unfolds.

BISHOP ADESINA INSPECTS THE ONGOING CATHEDRAL NEW BUILDING PROJECT IN COMPANY OF STRUCTURAL ENGINEER, AND CHURCH STAKEHOLDERS AND HELD TOWNHALL MEETING
On Sunday 29th October 2023, the Bishop, Most Rev. Francis Obafemi Adesina in company of the Cathedral Administrator, Very Rev. Fr. Albert Igbodipe, Members of the Building Committee, Presidents and Secretaries of Organizations, Societies and Sodalities in the Cathedral were conducted round the ongoing Cathedral New Building Project by the Structural Engineer, Engr. Joseph Labiran.
It was an eye-catching moment as the Engineer conducted the stakeholders round the construction site of the project to assess the level of work done. The Engineer took time to answer questions and made some clarifications.
The Bishop, who was visibly excited at the progress of the project expressed his satisfaction and appreciated the site Engineer and his team for their professionalism.
Thereafter, the contingent retired to the Cathedral Hall for a Townhall Meeting where progress of the project was reviewed and a new course charted for the sustenance of the project and its timely completion.

Prayer for St. Sebastian Catholic Cathedral
God of heaven and earth, we your Children in St. Sebastian Catholic Cathedral, Ijebu-Ode as one Family of Faith acknowledge the manner in which you are able to guide us and thank you for your sovereignty and steadfast love with which you kept us together in peace, progress and prosperity. We believe strongly in your transforming power as we humbly call on you Lord to help us in renewing our lives and your Church.
Grant us the right disposition to be willing and ready to sacrifice our time, potentials and resources in a selfless manner for the purpose of revitalizing and reawakening the pastoral, spiritual and structural growth of your Church.
Lord, grant us the grace to commit ourselves whole and entire for the up building of our Cathedral especially towards our Cathedral reconstruction project without looking back. Trusting in the mystery of your divine providence, help us bring to fulfilment your divine will accordingly.
Help us to sustain a stable passion for the task ahead of us and clear vision in our struggle for eternity.
Protect our Bishop, Most Rev. Francis Obafemi Adesina from all evil, guide our Priests and Religious on the right path that leads into your kingdom. Through the power of Holy Spirit, help us to be true witness and visible light of Christ in a dark world of sin and misery.
Help us to be more welcoming and missionary in our endeavors to bring back our lukewarm and stray members. Protect the Children and Youth of our Cathedral from sickness and untimely death and bless them with greatness and success. Bless the elderly in their good old age.
